Throughout 2016 I will be sharing some of my favorite cool experiences, yummy tastes, unique purchases and more. Check out Caryn’s 5 Faves below in South Florida and please share with your friends and colleagues.
Kick off 2016 with Caryn’s 5 Faves in South Florida!
1. Green Cay Nature Center and Wakodahatchee Wetlands on the Delray Beach and Boynton Beach lines are two of my favorite places. If you are a nature or bird lover, or can’t resist a sunrise/sunset, this is the place to go. It’s pure relaxation, a photographer’s dream and its FREE!
PS. Great for families too as the kids love the gator and iguana sightings and much more.
2. South Beach/Miami Beach (from 5th street – 46th street) for nightlife, people watching, food and shopping.
Miami Beach has gone through many transformations in my lifetime. I have been visiting South Beach since I was in 1st grade with my family and the lure of experiencing it at least a few times a year, is still strong. I have too many favorites to name, but I suggest you experience it during the day, at night, on foot and by boat. Be ready to taste the flavors of Latin America, Cuba, Asia and amazing new American cuisine.
The beach is great and there is a fantastic boardwalk along the ocean from 5th Street to 46th Street. If you want to shop, eat outside or just have gelato and people watch, Lincoln Road – 16th street, is a great spot. For an amazing view, try drinks and apps at Juvia – 1111 Lincoln Road, Yardbird has fantastic Southern food. Need an inexpensive make-up fix, KiKo Milano is on Lincoln Rd and has great stuff! Dinner at The Forge is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and tried and true is Joe’s Stone Crab.
3. Fairchild Tropical Botanical Gardens in Coral Gables is a treat when it comes to tropical plants and a beautiful afternoon of walking. I am always inspired by the contemporary art, Chihuly glass sculptures in the gardens and the natural landscape.
4. Palm Beach. What’s better than an afternoon of shopping on Worth Ave? It’s classic charm is great for people and auto viewing while shopping. I am a fan of the Palm Beach Grill for dinner, the elegant Flagler Museum and brunch at The Breakers. A few nights stay at The Breakers is definitely worth the splurge at least once in your life!
5. Delray Beach – Atlantic Avenue. Recently voted as one of the top 10 cities in the U.S., Delray Beach has great restaurants, nightlife, shopping and of course, the beach.
Walk down Atlantic Avenue between Swinton Blvd and A1A and you will be entertained from morning til night. A bit off Atlantic is a new gem – Max’s Social House other greats include J and J Seafood Bar and Grill and Max’s Harvest, One of the most beautiful and romantic restaurants I have been in is Sundy House. Make sure you reserve a private gazebo for dinner or a bungalow for the night.
